Meet the Serious4Sport Team!

Serious4Sport was founded in 2010 by James Hicks and Tom Austin, two friends who have known each other since childhood and have played Sport since they could walk. They were both youth Sportsman in the local area and continue to play for senior teams in Oxfordshire.

Both attended King Alfred’s School in Wantage, and moved onto Southampton Solent University where they gained their BA Hons degree in Football Studies with vital modules covered such as Physical Education.

With their degrees, James and Tom gained FA football coaching certificates Level 1 & 2 along with other coaching qualifications such as Basketball Level 1, Table Tennis Level 1, and Squash Level 1. They have over 7 years of Sports coaching experience each and are both CRB checked / Peadatric first aid qualified.

Serious4Sport have many qualified coaches in a variety of sports, who have a vast amount of experience in coaching children. We have worked as coaches and as teachers whilst gaining our valuable experience in the industry, and are working hard to continue this into the future by gaining even more knowledge in every lesson we deliver.

Our aim is:

  • To Deliver sport to children to the highest standard

  • To encourage children to have fun through sport

  • To ensure children have a safe environment to play their sport

  • To allow children to stay healthy through sport and tackle childhood obesity

  • To promote participation from all ages and genders

  • To develop talented sportspeople from a young age

The main emphasis from our coaching is for every child to enjoy themselves in our fun and charismatic environment, as parents will realise when they first attend one of the Serious4Sport sessions.

Feedback

'Graduates going from strength-to-strength'

Football studies graduates James Hicks and Tom Austin have been working hard since graduating from Solent Univesity, after completing their studies, the Oxford-based students set up their own sports coaching company - Serious4Sport - that provides multi-sport coachingfor children aged 18 months to 14 years. The company has grown significantly in the last five years. Indeed, it's grown so much that James and Tom now employ a staff of qualified coaches and also provide sessions for Primary Schols in the Oxfordshire area. Serious4Sport has been so successful in recent years that the Oxford Mail recently ran a feature on the company, prasing James and Tom for all of the hard work they have done to provide a range of sporting opportunites for children in Oxfordshire. Dr. Richard Elliott Southampton Solent Unviversity.

“I cannot recommend Serious4Sporthighly enough as football coaches for young children. We have been attending football sessions with them for over 2 years since our son was 18 months old. The sessions are fun and enjoyable for both the children and adults and Serious4Sport are naturals at building your child's confidence, encouraging participation and bringing out the talent in evry child" - Nicola Salter Williams F1 Racing

“My son really enjoys football with Serious4Sport. Not only have his skills improved, he also has a really great time each week” – Karen Brewer

“Our 3 1/2 year old son has been coached by Serious4Sportsince he was 2 years old and he enjoys it very much and looks forward to it every week. They both have an excellent way and style of engaging with young children which makes learning new football skills fun and enjoyable” – Chris & Emma Medlock

"Serious4Sport are extremely professional and all coaches are fun, charasmatic and extremely reliable. I cannot reccomend them enough and for their price the quality of Coaching is great. My child has developed so much and as weeks progress so has his confidence and overall ability. I cant thank these guys enough!" - Gary and Sally Redmond

"We feel Roberts Sports Sessions have really benefited his Physical Development. He has hemiplegia so is slightly weaker down his right side. He comes home from Sports Sessions very excited and he has learnt to kick, throw and catch balls, enjoyed running and even had the chance to try hurdling. It's taught him new physical skills and encourages him to listen and follow instructions"
